The hypertension represents a significant clinical and social problem that, in Italy, involves around 40% of the adult population. It is one of the major causes of cardiovascular, kidney and cerebrovascular diseases.

That condition rarely acknowledges a single origine, it is often the result of an interaction of multiple factors, genetic and environmental.
Different heart, kidneys and metabolic diseases, associated to hypertension, can begin already in children.

American Academy of Pediatrics has recently stressed importance of systematic measurement of blood pressure in children.

Hypertension in children concern a small number of subjects, but in the same time it represents a high risk of serious complications. Is often associated with other rare diseases, and requires highly specialized skills and a multidisciplinary approach.

Early diagnosis, the change in a way of life and appropriate pharmacologic therapy, can prevent many serious clinical events in adulthood.
